Philippians 4:13-14

"I can do all things in him who strengthens me."

Another of the more famous verses of the Bible. It comes after a catalog of things Paul says he knows how to do -- essentially, he knows how to make it through good times and bad; one assumes an emphasis on the bad times since, after all, who doesn't know how to make it through the good times?

How many have been uplifted by this verse? Seen their way through dark times? Continued to fight the good fight, whatever the situation was, because they were assured that they could be victorious through Jesus?

How many might have taken the verse out of its context and used it to justify any behavior? They can do all things...

But key for me is the next verse:

"Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble."

This is, in large part, what the Christian project is all about. Sharing troubles with our fellows. More on this later.
